HOME STAGING STATISTICS The following statistics are results from a survey conducted by the Real Estate Staging Association. Vacant Homes Previously on the Market In 2007 vacant homes that were previously on the market on average 131 days as un-staged properties had not sold. These homes were taken off the market, staged and re-listed. On average these properties sold after 42 days on the market resulting in 68% less time on the market.
In 2008 vacant homes that were previously on the market on average 190 days as un-staged properties had not sold. These homes were taken off the market, staged and re-listed. On average these properties sold after 28 days on the market resulting in 85% less time on the market. Occupied Homes Previously on the Market In 2007 occupied homes that were previously on the market on average 106 days as un-staged properties had not sold. These homes were taken off the market, staged and re-listed. On average these properties sold after 44 days on the market resulting in 46.6% less time on the market. In 2008 occupied homes that were previously on the market on average 57 days as un-staged properties had not sold. These homes were taken off the market, staged and re-listed. On average these properties sold after 6 days on the market resulting in 89% less time on the market. Staged First, Listed and then SOLD In 2007 occupied homes that were never on the market previously were staged, listed and sold on average in 39 days.
In 2008 occupied homes that were never on the market previously were staged, listed and sold on average in 24 days. In 2007 vacant homes that were never on the market previously were staged, listed and sold on average in 44 days.
In 2008 vacant homes that were never on the market previously were staged, listed and sold on average in 33 days. Staging is still working in a down market. 2008 was statistically not as good as 2007 and staging proved to sell properties at a significantly higher rate than non- staged properties.
Buyers benefit by purchasing homes that have issues resolved and that are move in ready. A Maritz survey says that 63% of buyers will pay more for move-in ready homes. A 2007 national survey of 2000 real estate agents conducted by Home Gain found that home staging can yield a 340% return on your investment.
